1983 Director of Studies Ed Godden and Founder and Headmaster Capt. G.S. Bowman.
I remember Mr. Godden being an academic but not much for the military side of life at the Academy. I remember playing in my first Staff Student basketball game and winning the first half until the unassuming Mr. Ed showed up and apologized for being late. He proceeded to shoot threes from the outside with little effort and once again the staff pummeled us!
Then Captain Bowman was a larger than life figure who’s vision of the school has brought it to where we are today. I remember him showing me architectural drawings of the future campus with three new barracks, a proper mess hall that looked like the church on our cap badge, a school building and even a gym. This was at a time when we did PE in the maintenance shed with a concrete floor and conducted science experiments in a barn:). We’ve come a long way!
